What is Ice Bucket Challenge?
Ice Bucket Challenge
So what actually is The Ice Bucket Challenge, also called ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Yeah
people wonder to put on an ice water calling it a challenge.
Definitely, it's to dump ice water on an old challenger's head to raise
money for charity to be aware of a disease called amyotrophic lateral
sclerosis (ALS) and I don't know very much about it.I only know that it
relates to progressive weakness due to muscle wasting and that results
in difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing. It is participated by
people mostly in US,UK etc.
But Dr. Brian O'Neill on August 22, 2014 warned that the challenge may have adverse health effects on participants and might lead to unconsciousness in people taking blood pressure medications.
Misuse of water has been , especially in California, due to that region's ongoing drought.
How is it done?
The Participants, while recording a video with the hours of being challenged, announce of accepting the challenge and then pour ice into the water bucket. He/She is to lift that bucket over his/her head and gets at the choice of nominating minimum of others for participating in the challenge. Whether people choose to donate, perform the challenge, or do both varies. In one version,He/She is expected to donate $10 if he/she has performed ,if not then $100.Impact on People
This challenge went viral in the months June-Aug on social media and Television, particularly in the US, with people of types of celebrities, politicians and athletes posting videos of their performance in the event. The donations range in millions of dollars.Importance of Ice Bucket Challenge
While Julia Belluz was writing a piece with criticisms to link it to MacAskill's piece, she noted that funding for diseases was often not proportional to the number of deaths caused by the diseases and that donating to developing world health causes could provide much greater healthcare value than donating for the treatment of rare diseases. But Dr. Brian O'Neill on August 22, 2014 warned that the challenge may have adverse health effects on participants and might lead to unconsciousness in people taking blood pressure medications.
